Descent into madness lol
My very stressful journey

“She’s an artist”
In year 6 I was in my leaving assembly and my teacher read out a poem going through every member of my class.
The very first line of the poem was
"Class 6S, where do I start?
I'll start with Keira,
She is good at art."
That line plays in my head over and over.
I was always considered the 'artist' throughout my life. At every age, at every event. Everyone would introduce me with-
"She's an artist!"
I has been a core part of my identity since I could remember, consuming all forms of art- anime, museums, Mister Maker, books.
Art is a part of me. I believe it is a part of everything. It is life itself.
I am not an asshole. I won't sit down and explain why a banana taped to a wall is worth unbelievable amount of money or why a canvas some lines and colours is the height of human expression.
But there is something fluid in art that can't be found in anything else.
It's not charcoal on paper.
Or oil on a canvas.
Or a pixel on a screen.
Or a fruit rotting on the wall.
It's a language, and just like language, it carries everyone with it being the bridge with connects us all. It's filled with culture and stories and feelings and life. Some voices are high, some are low, all with unique accents and slang and imperfections that make it special. Some thing that some one will listen to. Some one that makes us feel heard and understood.
So I won't tell you that a banana on a wall is priceless or that some lines and colours is hard to do. But isn't it beautiful that we could do it anyway and someone out there will listen regardless?
